Michael Harding
Pigment-Matched

Pigment Finder

Type a pigment code (e.g. PB29) or a colour name, and we'll show the Michael Harding colours built on that pigment. Matches are read straight from our live oil and watercolour catalogue, so the answer always reflects what we actually make.

How matches are determined

The Pigment Finder matches by Colour Index pigment code — the standard international identifier for a pigment's chemical family and type (for example, PB29 for ultramarine, PR108 for cadmium red). A colour name you enter is resolved to its Colour Index code through a curated common-name index, then the live Michael Harding oil and watercolour catalogue is read to show every colour built on that pigment.

A pigment match means the same Colour Index pigment. It is not an exact colour match: the binder (linseed oil vs gum arabic), the grind and the pigment load all affect how a pigment appears and handles, so two paints sharing a pigment can look and behave differently. Treat the result as a suggested starting point built on shared pigment chemistry, not a like-for-like replacement.

Colour Disclaimer: Colours shown on screen or in print may vary from the actual product. For the most accurate representation of colour, texture and finish, we recommend viewing a physical sample or swatch in person before making your final selection.
