The story of PR122
A permanent, transparent magenta that rewrote what artists could do with pinks and violets.
How it is made
Quinacridone pigments are synthesised and then conditioned into different crystal forms to tune the hue from gold to magenta to violet. In oil they give transparent, staining, very lightfast colours with exceptional tinting strength.
In the hands of the masters
Pure 20th-century chemistry - quinacridones let modern painters achieve the vivid pinks and magentas that were simply impossible before, with full lightfastness.
